Announcement on Funding for the First Batch of 2026 Students of XJTU-POLIMI Joint School for Global Exchange Studies

In accordance with the Measures for the Administration of Undergraduate Exchange Studies at Home and Abroad of Xian Jiaotong University (Document No. XJTU Education201910) and the Trial Measures for Funding Undergraduates of XJTU-POLIMI Joint School for Global Exchange Studies (Document No. XJTU Design20261), the application process for the first batch of 2026 funding for students of XJTU-POLIMI Joint School (hereinafter referred to as the Joint School) to participate in exchange studies in countries and regions outside the Chinese Mainland is now launched. Relevant matters are announced as follows:


I. Funding Categories and Standards

Students of the School may apply for funding for global exchange studies up to three times during their undergraduate studies, namely: one long-term study visit, one short-term study visit, and one overseas international competition or international conference. Funding eligibility shall be valid for one year from the date of approval.

1. Long-term Study Visit:

Refers to credit-bearing courses, research training and other programs lasting 3 months or longer at overseas universities or internationally renowned research institutions.

2. Short-term Study Visit:

Refers to short-term practice, research training, summer schools and other programs lasting less than 3 months at overseas universities or internationally renowned research institutions. Internships at overseas enterprises and social practice are not covered by the funding.

3. International Conferences:

Refers to academic conferences attended overseas due to the presentation of academic papers or invitation to deliver keynote speeches. Relevant supporting materials such as conference invitation letters and paper acceptance/publication certificates must be provided.

4. International Competitions:

Refers to high-level academic international competitions attended overseas.

For students of the 20222024 cohorts: Eligible competitions are limited to Category A and B international competitions recognized by the University, and Category C+ and C international competitions recognized by the School.

For students of the 2025 cohort and beyond: Eligible competitions shall be subject to the list of international competitions published in the Innovation Ability Assessmentdocuments for postgraduate recommendation of the respective schools of the majors.

Participating students shall provide relevant supporting materials such as competition notices and shortlist certificates.

For detailed funding standards, please refer to the Trial Measures for Funding Undergraduates of XJTU-POLIMI Joint School for Global Exchange Studies (Document No. XJTU Design20261), which is posted on the bulletin board on the first floor of the Milan Building.


II. Application Eligibility

1. Applicants shall be current undergraduate students of XJTU-POLIMI Joint School.

2. Have not received similar funding from the University, the China Scholarship Council or other institutions for the same type of study visit/exchange program.

3. Love the motherland and the University, love the people, support the leadership of the Communist Party of China; abide by the Constitution and laws, observe the rules and regulations of the University; be honest and trustworthy with good moral character.

4. Students who have not received funding from XJTU-POLIMI Joint School may apply for funding from the Academic Affairs Office of XJTU in accordance with the Trial Measures for the Special Fund for Supporting Undergraduates of Xian Jiaotong University for Global Exchange Studies (Document No. XJTU Education201929), but shall no longer be eligible for funding from the Joint School.


III. Review Arrangements

(I) Special Summer Study Visit of the School

Students participating in the 2026 summer study visit program jointly organized by the School and Politecnico di Milano may submit funding applications as required. The School will conduct unified review and public notice, and select preliminary candidates for funding on a merit basis. The number of funded students shall in principle not exceed two-thirds of the total number of participants in the program. After students successfully complete overseas exchange studies, return to campus on schedule and pass the assessment and defense, the final funding list shall be determined based on the ranking of comprehensive scores.

The comprehensive score calculation rule is: Total Score = Pre-departure Review Score × 1/3 + Post-return Defense Score × 2/3.

(II) Other Long- and Short-term Programs, International Conferences and International Competitions

Students shall apply independently according to the overseas programs they intend to participate in. After the application deadline, the School will organize review work, and confirm the proposed funding list and levels after public notice. Upon completion of exchange studies, timely return to campus and passing of assessment and defense, the final funding list and funding levels shall be determined based on assessment results.


IV. Application Procedures

1. Online Registration and Application Materials

Applicants shall complete online registration via the designated link (https://docs.qq.com/form/page/DSXVJQU1Ba1NEQ1Jz), and submit the following paper materials to the Office of Cooperation and Development, Room 102, Milan Building:

(1) Application Form for Students of XJTU-POLIMI Joint School for Global Study Funding

(2) Personal Resume

(3) Official Academic Transcript of Xian Jiaotong University

(4) Language proficiency certificates such as CET/TOEFL/IELTS/Duolingo

V. Other Notices

1. Students who obtain funding eligibility shall arrange overseas exchange studies on their own and provide official materials such as program descriptions and invitation letters. The funding may be used only upon review and approval by the School.

2. Students must purchase overseas personal accident insurance and medical insurance before going abroad, with the expenses borne by themselves. Those who fail to purchase insurance as required shall not be funded.

3. After returning to campus, students shall submit a summary of learning outcomes as required and participate in the School assessment. Upon passing the assessment, students may apply for reimbursement of relevant expenses and receive funding subsidies in accordance with the financial regulations of the School and the University.

4. Anyone under one of the following circumstances shall be disqualified from funding and shall refund all funding already granted; those who violate disciplines and regulations shall be dealt with in accordance with relevant regulations of the University:

(1) Failing to travel abroad within one year from the date of obtaining funding eligibility;

(2) Unauthorized change of the program without approval;

(3) Found to be ineligible after approval;

(4) Providing false information, concealing facts or obtaining funding by other improper means;

(5) Violating overseas administration regulations and receiving disciplinary sanctions from the University;

(6) Traveling abroad without going through the required departure approval procedures;

(7) Failing to travel as planned, making unauthorized detours or traveling to unapproved countries/regions;

(8) Failing to submit summary materials as required or failing the assessment after returning to campus.

5. Matters not covered in this notice shall be implemented in accordance with the Trial Measures for Funding Undergraduates of XJTU-POLIMI Joint School for Global Exchange Studies and relevant university documents.
