In accordance with the Detailed Implementation Rules for Undergraduate Major Transfer of Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU Academic〔2025〕No.27) and relevant university notices, and based on the school’s educational operation reality, XJTU-POLIMI Joint School has established a Major Transfer Working Group. Led by the Vice Dean of Teaching, the group consists of vice deans in charge of practical training and international exchanges as well as all major program leaders, to coordinate all major transfer-related work. The 2025 implementation plan for undergraduate intra-school major transfer is hereby announced as follows.
Ⅰ. Major Admission Quotas
1. The School only accepts applications for intra‑school major transfers. The proposed admission quotas for each major are as follows:

2. In view of the curriculum settings and prerequisite course requirements, all transfer students of the 2023 intakes shall defer their study and join the 2024 intake cohorts of the target majors.
Ⅱ. Application Eligibility
1. Meet the basic major transfer criteria and relevant provisions specified in the Detailed Implementation Rules for Undergraduate Major Transfer of Xi’an Jiaotong University.
2. Be a full-time registered undergraduate student of XJTU-POLIMI Joint School.
3. Possess genuine academic interest, professional strengths and development potential in the target major.
4. Have sound psychological quality and good interpersonal communication capabilities.
5. Maintain a clean disciplinary record throughout undergraduate studies.
6. Pass the school’s review and meet the professional training requirements of the target major.
Ⅲ. Review Procedures
1. From 9:00 on July 14 to 17:00 on July 15, students may fill in only one major preference via the Comprehensive Academic Service Platform. No revision is allowed after submission, and the system will be closed automatically upon the deadline. Students may attach supporting materials such as English proficiency certificates and design portfolios.
2. The school will conduct preliminary review on submitted materials from July 22 to July 30, organize assessments for eligible applicants, and determine admission results based on assessment performance.
3. The proposed admission list will be submitted to the Academic Affairs Office for verification. The Academic Affairs Office will publish the preliminary admission list for a 3-day public notice period (tentatively from July 31 to August 2, 2025). Students may submit written withdrawal applications during the publicity period, while applications submitted after the deadline will not be accepted.
Ⅳ. Assessment Methods
1. The major transfer assessment consists of a written test and a comprehensive evaluation, each accounting for 50% of the total score.
2. Written test contents: Advanced Mathematics (60%) + English (40%), closed-book examination.
3. Comprehensive evaluation consists of academic credit grades (50%) and interview performance (50%). Academic credit grades refer to scores of mandatory courses specified in the teaching plan of the original major, excluding free elective courses.
4. The interview covers candidates’ understanding of the target major, academic planning, comprehensive quality and English listening and speaking proficiency.
5. The specific time and venue for written tests and interviews will be announced separately.
Ⅴ. Admission Rules
Admission will be conducted in descending order of total assessment scores for each major. Written test scores will serve as the tiebreaker for candidates with identical total scores.
Ⅵ. Supplementary Course Arrangements
1. Transferred students shall adjust and select courses on the Comprehensive Academic Service Platform in accordance with the training program of the target major and sign the Letter of Acknowledgement for Supplementary Course Requirements.
2. Students who have completed equivalent courses with equal or higher credits than the required courses in the target major’s training program are exempt from supplementary studies. Students who have not taken relevant courses or obtained insufficient credits must complete supplementary coursework.
3. All course substitution, credit recognition and supplementary studies shall be completed before the sixth semester for four-year programs or the eighth semester for five-year programs. Failure to complete required courses will result in disqualification from postgraduate recommendation application.

Ⅷ. Special Remarks
1. The published admission quotas represent the maximum intake capacity, and the actual admission number will be determined based on candidates’ comprehensive assessment results through merit-based selection.
2. Students officially approved for major transfer shall not transfer back to their original major.
3. This plan shall be subject to the exclusive interpretation of XJTU-POLIMI Joint School.
