With the theme of “Debating in the Harbour, Shining with Wisdom”, the 2nd School Debate Competition aims to inspire critical thinking, integrate academic knowledge with social practice, and promote learning and cognition through debate. Relevant arrangements are announced as follows.
Ⅰ. Organizers
1. Host: XJTU-POLIMI Joint School
2. Undertaker: Moral Education Lecture Group, Qide College
Ⅱ. Participants and Format
1. Participants: All students of XJTU-POLIMI Joint School
2. Format: 4v4 team competition; each class can register one team, with overall coordination by the organizing committee for uneven team numbers.
Ⅲ. Promotion Rules
1. Ranking Round: All teams draw lots for matches. Scores include basic match points, outstanding debater bonus points and discipline bonus points. The top 4 teams with total scores advance to semi-finals.
2. Semi-Final: Knockout system; winners advance to the final, losers compete for the third place.
3. Final & Third-Place Match: Determine the champion, runner-up and third-place teams.
Ⅳ. Awards Setting
1. Champion Team: 1600 RMB bonus + official certificate
2. Runner-Up Team: 1200 RMB bonus + official certificate
3. Third-Place Team: 800 RMB bonus + official certificate
4. Best Debater (Final): 500 RMB bonus + official certificate
5. Semi-Final Teams: 800 RMB team bonus
6. All session-level Best Debaters: Honor certificates
7. Top 50% ranking teams: Custom souvenirs for each member
8. All participants: Official activity certification
Ⅴ. Schedule and Venue
1. Competition Period: October – November 2025
2. Preliminary Venue: Milan Building Conference Room & Student Activity Room 104
3. Final Venue: Milan Building Lecture Hall
Ⅵ. Competition Regulations
1. No team member replacement is allowed after registration.
2. Absence without valid reasons will be regarded as automatic waiver.
3. The organizing committee reserves the right of final interpretation.
Ⅶ. Registration Arrangement
1. Team leaders shall complete online registration with an official team name before October 26, 2025.
