On the afternoon of December 9, 2024, the first academic exchange seminar in the field of metal material additive manufacturing under the "Innovation · Future" initiative was successfully held by the Xi'an Jiaotong University-Milan Polytechnic Joint School of Design and Innovation (hereinafter referred to as "XJTU-Milan School"). The seminar aimed to promote talent development and scientific research collaboration between the two universities in the field of metal material additive manufacturing. Faculty members from Xi'an Jiaotong University's School of Mechanical Engineering, including Huang Ke, Zhang Zhifen, and Yang Qiang, as well as faculty members from Milan Polytechnic University's Department of Mechanical Engineering, including Bianca Maria Colosimo, Stefano Foletti, Patriaca Luca, Leonardo Caprio, and Marco Luigi Giuseppe Gasso, along with 12 students from both universities, participated in the seminar. The event was conducted online.

During the seminar, experts and scholars from both universities introduced their respective research teams and fields of study. They shared the latest research projects and achievements in areas such as metal additive manufacturing and multi-field coupling processes, online monitoring of deformation and internal defects in metal additive manufacturing, metal additive manufacturing equipment, sensing and monitoring of large-area additive manufacturing processes, multi-axis fatigue strength, and laser additive manufacturing. The presentations sparked lively discussions among participants, who exchanged insights on the challenges and opportunities in these cutting-edge research areas.

Following the presentations, faculty members from both sides engaged in in-depth discussions on the development trends and potential collaboration directions in the field of metal additive manufacturing. Both parties expressed that this academic seminar provided a valuable opportunity for researchers from the two universities to exchange ideas and explore cooperation. They look forward to advancing scientific innovation and technological progress in this field through resource sharing, joint research projects, and graduate student exchanges, aiming to achieve more substantive outcomes in the future.
The "Innovation · Future" series of academic exchange seminars, organized by the XJTU-Milan School, serves as an international platform for multidisciplinary research collaboration. It actively seeks to expand opportunities for academic and research cooperation between faculty members and internationally renowned experts. The school will continue to host the "Innovation · Future" multidisciplinary series of academic exchange seminars and warmly invites all faculty and students to stay engaged and participate actively!
