From October 12th to 15th, the National Finals of the China International University Student Innovation Competition (2024) was held in Shanghai. Xi'an Jiaotong University achieved excellent results again in this competition, winning 13 Gold Awards (with a gold award ratio of only one in ten thousand), ranking joint second among universities nationwide, and setting a record high number of gold awards. Among them, the two international projects declared by JSDI's teachers and students all won Gold Awards (out of a total of four gold awards for the school's international track)! In addition, three projects involving three students from JSDI won Gold Awards in the national university main track.
This competition was jointly hosted by 12 departments including the Ministry of Education and the Shanghai Municipal People's Government, and was undertaken by Shanghai Jiao Tong University and the Mingxing District People's Government. Since its official launch in April 2024, a total of 5.14 million projects and 20.836 million student entries from 5,406 universities in 153 countries and regions at home and abroad have registered to participate. Among them, the number of foreign student entries reached 39,380, involving 12,063 projects from 1,993 schools, covering 152 top 100 universities worldwide such as Harvard, Oxford, Stanford, MIT, and Cambridge (a total of 152 universities ranked in the top 100 by the QS/THE/U.S. News/Shanghai Ranking's four major rankings). It has truly become an international innovation event that is highly concerned and widely participated in by young students worldwide, effectively promoting cross-time and space exchanges among young students from different countries, cultures, and skin colors, and promoting the formation of a good ecology among young students worldwide to think and cooperate together, show mutual tolerance and support, and work together to promote world peace and development. Among them, 1,410 excellent projects stood out and participated in the on-site competition at the finals stage.
